Trump Administration Works Towards Swift Resolution to Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Former President Donald Trump's administration is actively pursuing a swift end to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, according to National Security Advisor Mike Waltz. Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Waltz expressed confidence that a peace agreement would be reached under Trump's leadership, referring to him as "the president of peace."

Waltz defended the administration's decision to engage in negotiations with both Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing the necessity of dialogue to achieve peace. He confirmed that discussions are underway with both countries, as well as European allies, to identify common ground and facilitate a resolution.

Waltz highlighted the administration's efforts to convey the urgency of ending the conflict to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He acknowledged rising tensions between Trump and Zelenskyy, following reports of meetings between U.S. and Russian officials without Ukrainian representation. While Zelenskyy expressed concerns about decisions being made "behind Ukraine's back," Waltz underscored the importance of finding a resolution that serves the interests of all parties involved, including the American people.

Recent exchanges between Trump and Zelenskyy have been strained, with accusations of "disinformation" and counter-accusations labeling Zelenskyy a "dictator." Despite these challenges, the Trump administration, through representatives like Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and Waltz himself, continues to engage in diplomatic efforts with both Russian and Ukrainian officials. Special Envoy Keith Kellogg reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to achieving a "sustainable peace" in Ukraine.
