Bill Murray Suggests Bob Woodward May Have 'Framed' Nixon, Citing Inaccuracies in Belushi Biography

Comedian Bill Murray recently expressed skepticism about Bob Woodward's journalistic integrity, suggesting the renowned Watergate reporter might have "framed" Richard Nixon. Murray's doubts stem from what he perceives as inaccuracies in Woodward's 1986 biography of John Belushi, "Wired: The Short Life and Fast Times of John Belushi."

During an appearance on "The Joe Rogan Experience," Murray, a close friend of Belushi, stated he only read a few pages of "Wired" before concluding it was "completely inaccurate." He criticized Woodward for relying on sources far removed from Belushi's inner circle. "If this is what he writes about my friend…what the hell could they have done to Nixon?" Murray questioned, implying Woodward's reporting on Watergate might be similarly flawed.

Murray's friendship with Belushi, who died of a drug overdose in 1982, fueled his distrust of Woodward's account. He expressed discomfort with the idea that Woodward, whose reporting contributed to Nixon's resignation, might have misrepresented his friend's life. "If he did this to Belushi…what he did in Nixon’s is probably soiled for me, too," Murray lamented.

Woodward, along with Carl Bernstein, earned a Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of the Watergate scandal, which led to Nixon's resignation in 1974. The scandal involved a cover-up of the Nixon administration's spying on the Democratic Party headquarters. Woodward has since authored numerous books, including biographies of several US presidents.

Fox News Digital contacted Woodward's representatives for comment but has not yet received a response.
