A Yarmouth, Massachusetts woman experienced a terrifying ordeal early Monday morning when she discovered a man concealed in the back seat of her car. The Yarmouth Police Department reported that 36-year-old Jailton Dos Santos of South Yarmouth has been arrested in connection with the incident.
A patrolling officer noticed the woman's seemingly disabled vehicle near the Route 6 exit ramp around 1 a.m. She was standing outside, visibly distressed, and attempting to call 911. She recounted that shortly after leaving a friend's house, a light came on inside her car. Upon looking into the back seat, she was startled to find a man hiding there, covered by a coat.
The frightened woman's erratic driving caused the man to fall out of the open rear door. Dos Santos is now facing charges of breaking and entering into a vehicle, though the motive remains unclear. Police are using this incident to remind the public to lock their unattended vehicles, particularly at night.
