Tesla has secured all top four positions in the Cars.com American-Made Index, a yearly assessment of vehicle manufacturing origins and job creation within the United States. The ranking considers where vehicles and their parts are manufactured, along with the employment generated by their production. Parts sourced from Canada are included due to the American Automobile Labeling Act, but extra weight is given to U.S.-based engine and transmission production.
For the second consecutive year, the Tesla Model Y claims the top spot, followed by the Model 3, Model X, and Model S. All Teslas sold in the U.S. are produced in the company's California and Texas plants.

The top five is rounded out by the Honda Passport, manufactured in Alabama. Other vehicles in the top ten include the Tennessee-built Volkswagen ID.4, the Honda Odyssey (Alabama), the Acura MDX (Ohio), the Honda Ridgeline (Alabama), and the Acura RDX (Ohio).

Beyond Tesla, the highest-ranking American brand was Lincoln, with the Kentucky-built Corsair. This model held the third position in the 2022 rankings. The Chevrolet Corvette, also assembled in Kentucky, was the top-ranked General Motors vehicle, landing in 19th place.

Notably absent from the top 100 were the Illinois-manufactured Rivian R1T pickup and R1S SUV. Their exclusion is partially attributed to their classification as heavy-duty vehicles, which exempts them from certain parts sourcing disclosure requirements. It's worth noting that the Cars.com index uses different criteria than the Kogod Made in America Index, which ranked the Lincoln Corsair first in its most recent report.
